The Creek
Ackerly Creek is our place of water exploration all year round. The children find creatures hidden in the cool water and compare the sizes, shapes, and colors of them. Studying the water and how it flows, what’s growing in it, who lives in it, etc. are all seemingly simple ideas. If you relate these child-led activities to real-world applications these can be translated into:
Hydrology - The scientific study of the movement, distribution, and management of water on Earth
Aquatic Biology - The study of the ecology and behavior of plants, animals, and microbes living water
